 ​V11 Installation Guide (KB 5811) – This is the full installation guide. 

Read Me for users on version 11.0 and higher:
The update is done ONLY at the server. After the server is successfully updated all the workstations will automatically update when they log on. To download version 11.4 directly from our site, check the Download and Install section of this article.
 
Read Me for users on version 10.2.11 and lower:
  1. You must install version 10.2 first before installing version 11.4.
  2. It is recommended that before you start, you have your serial number and activation code available. If there is an error in installation, you may need it. It can be found under the Administration Module via System>Activate License.
  3. The V11 Installation Guide can be found at the start up screen of the installation or see KB 5811.
  4. If you are installing to a new computer (not an upgrade of an existing installation), you will first need to install Microsoft SQL Server. Unlike previous versions where MS SQL Express was delivered with the installation, V11.0 does not deliver MS SQL Express. You will need to either use an existing MS SQL installation or download MS SQL Express from the Microsoft website. Instructions and information can be found on KB 1046.
  5. If your existing database engine, is MSDE or MS SQL Server 2000 (pre MS SQL Express/2005), you must change to a more current version first. This is not an upgrade process therefore your databases will need to be restored to proper engine. Please follow the instructions on KB 5826.
  6. If your existing database engine is MS SQL Server 2005 prior to SP3, you must update to the latest server pack before installing v11.4
  7. If you are installing on top of an installation (upgrade) you must be on Sage 100 Fund Accounting version 10.2 or later. If you are not on v10.2 or later, the upgrade will not work.
  8. V11.4 updates components of the windows operating system may request or require a reboot of the server. Make sure when you are doing the installation that this is feasible.
  9. The update is done ONLY at the server. After the server is successfully updated all the workstations will automatically update when they log on.

Download and Install:

Note: All users must save their work and exit from the Abila Fund Accounting application(s) while the update is applied.  It is highly recommended that you backup all of your organization database(s) AND your system database (NpsSqlSys) from Administration>File>Backup.
 
1. To download the update Click Here.  The download process has changed, please check below for the information on how to download and start the installation, save the download directly on the computer that is your Abila Fund Accounting server
  •  Click on the link above and select Save


 
  • When the download is completed, you will notice an image below that is for a download manager


 
  • Double click on the image and select Run, next a window with location for the Sage 100 Fund Accounting update will appear

  • Click OK, Sage Download Manager will appear with progress bar, once completed you can start the installation.
 
2. From your Abila Fund Accounting server computer, launch the FA_Autorun.exe file. The installation will start and bring up the main screen. Please take the time to review the options and read the installation guide.
3. If you already have “MS SQL Server/Express 2005 with at least SP3” or higher, you can begin the installation process.



If you are doing an update to an existing product, this is likely the case.
NOTE:
  • If you are currently on version 11.0 or higher you already running correct MS SQL. You do not need to upgrade the SQL engine at this point.
  • If you are installing Abila Fund Accounting on this server for the first time you will need to choose the SQL Server Express Installation.




·         This will take you to the Microsoft website to download and install MS SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition. You should review the installation and configuration instructions in KB 1046.
·         If you are using MDSE, you must change to a more current version of SQL Express/SQL Server. You can get information in KB 5826 on how to upgrade from MSDE to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express.
 
4. Follow the prompts through the installation. Understand that it will first uninstall the old version automatically and then install the new version.

5. After the server installation has been completed, you can launch the Abila Fund Accounting application from the computer that functions as the Abila Fund Accounting server OR any Abila Fund Accounting workstations, so that the system database and selected organization database(s) can be updated to the latest version.
 
NOTE:
·         If your organization has multiple databases, select each database separately until all organization databases have been updated to the latest version.
6. Once all the databases have been updated to the latest version, the remaining workstations may launch the Abila Fund Accounting application(s). Upon launching the Abila Fund Accounting application(s), the user will be prompted to update their workstation to the latest version. Note: the user MUST be a local administrator on their workstation to install this update. The user should select OK to apply the workstation update and wait for a message notification indicating “Setup has completed” before attempting to use the software.
