SMTP Payroll Voucher Emails Not Sending

Configuring SMTP is outside of the scope of your Abila M&S agreement. The following solution has been provided as a courtesy to our Fund Accounting customers. Please contact your Abila Business Partner or your local IT consultant for assistance in maintaining or troubleshooting your SMTP settings.
 
Before reviewing the information below, ensure you or your IT have already set up your SMTP settings in MIP or followed the instructions found in article 2016.
The below troubleshooting possibilities are only if you are unable to send payroll email vouchers after successfully sending a test email in MIP itself from Organization > Organization Information > SMTP Email. If you are receiving errors during the test, above, you can search kb.abila.com for the error you see in MIP. There are a few reasons why vouchers won't send but everything else does. Please see those reasons below:
 
1. You must check which user is actually sending the payroll emails. Whoever is logged in and running payroll is the person who's email address will be used, it does not use the email that is in Organization > Organization Information > SMTP Email > Custom Credentials for sending. The custom credentials field is only used to authenticate that you have access to the email server. You can check which email address is being used by going to Security > Maintain Users > Find the user sending the payroll > you'll see their email.
 
2. You can test to see if MIP has permission to send pdf attachments by running a report as a test. To do this, run any report in the system from the user's account that typically sends payroll vouchers and click the Email icon at the top of the report. Send this email to someone different at your org. If this fails, it may be anti-virus or a server setting preventing the sending of attachments.
 
3. Another possibility is you may have a wrong email entered in your payroll voucher template. To find this, please go to Maintain > Payroll > Email Templates > Double-click Voucher (unless you have another custom template you need to double-click). In here, you can change the From address to be correct.
